Summary: Jack and Schuyler went to the European Coven for sanctuary from the New York Enclave, but they soon discover that they are virtual prisoners of the Countess. When they learn she was in another reincarnation the wife of Lucifer they know they have to get out and fast. But where can they run when their movements are tracked and their mission to discover the Van Alen Legacy and to locate the first of seven gates that guard earth from Lucifer is known? The Gate of Promise never looked less promising.

Why I started this book:

I started Misguided Angel because I’ve began and read through the rest of the books in the Blue Bloods series.

Likes:

  • Jack and Schuyler’s escape from their guards and the battle across and under the sea.
  • Sky finding Jack and rescuing him before he died. That would have been a quick end to the romance.
  • Sky not shrinking away from Jack’s angel form as the Angel of Destruction this time around. Yay!
  • Basically anything Sky and Jack in this book which wasn’t much.

Dislikes:

  • This book was heavy on filler and light on progressing the series arc. We spent too little time on Jack and Schuyler and too much on others.
  • It’s not coherent at all and very short. Comprehension was sacrificed in order to punch this book out as quickly as possible and it shows.
  • Mimi becoming head of the New York enclave. How did the older Blue Bloods let this happen? They want power so why would they give it away?
  • Mimi’s plot with the leaked YouTube video seemed and the missing vampire pretty pointless.

Toss-Up:

  • Perhaps Mimi and Oliver will hookup and leave Sky and Jack alone.
  • Deming Chen. We don’t really need more names or characters to follow in this series… especially as all the vampires have gone by six to two hundred different names in the past… I’m only sort of kidding about that…. Being the Angel of Mercy and a Venator from a Chinese coven could be interesting. She will probably appear later in the series.

Final Thoughts: You could easily skip this novel. It looks like Bloody Valentine will be the next important book as its focus will be on Jack and Schuyler’s bonding ceremony.
